What is "barrier coating"?
It is a term that describes a water based emulsion that when coated onto paper or board imparts a resistance to moisture, water, grease, chemicals even mould or fungus..... you name it. We lean toward the term Functional Coating.

Where can we buy "barrier coats"?
Functional Coatings for paper and board are widely available locally and internationally. The main problem is the necessary equipment to apply the coatings. We will supply coatings and the proper coating machinary if required.

Do you make machines or coat paper?
Both. Morgan Paper Coaters’ (MPC) primary business is coating paper. Our sister company Morgan Technical Services (MTS) manufactures original equipment, specialising in coating machines.

Can I buy coated paper from MPC?
Of course you can, we will send you our standard enquiry form which shows you the choice of coating properties you can choose from.

Afraid not, international sales only. However, why learn to coat paper when we will do it for you?

How wide and how much? We build our own machines remember, a commitment of volume is good enough to start the build.

What is the company's background?
Well, the Morgan 31 yaught is Mike’s design but maybe that’s too far back. In 1988 Mike introduced the first meter wide label stock producing machine in South Africa (Coastal Coaters) M1, M2, M3 soon followed. Basically if you buy label stock in this country it is most likely made on a Morgan coater / laminator, Raflatac included, remember cast PVC (Vynical Contact) Morgan 5. Xanita’s machines where invented by Mike as was Morgan Paper Coaters’ Combi Coater. I’ve left out living in Bei Ruit in the seventies and installing plants in South America in the sixties but that’s another story.
